Punjab on High Alert as flights operations temporarily suspended at major airports

LAHORE: The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) temporarily suspended flight operations at Lahore and Sialkot airports on Thursday due to rising tensions between Pakistan and India.

The PAA said both airports would remain closed until 12 noon today. Passengers should stay in touch with their airlines for updates, the authority advised.

Flight operations at Karachi and Islamabad airports have also been suspended until 12 noon. The PAA said it halted flights at Islamabad Airport for operational reasons.

Meanwhile, Punjab authorities placed Lahore and other cities on high alert.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar ordered increased security across the province. He confirmed that Punjab Police is fully alert and ready to respond to emergencies.

“All preparations—operational, strategic, and logistical—are in place,” said the IGP.

He added that police are closely monitoring the situation. “We will respond immediately to any incident,” he stated.
