LAHORE: The Punjab government suspended key hospital officials, including the medical superintendent and the head of the gynaecology department at Lady Willingdon Hospital.
The video, which went viral earlier this week, appeared to show doctors conducting Caesarean section procedures on two patients simultaneously in the same operating theatre, separated only by a medical curtain.
The Punjab health authorities initiated an inquiry and took immediate administrative action. The department also sought an explanation from the head of the gynaecology department.
Furthermore, the services of a woman medical officer were repatriated to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department due to misconduct linked to the incident.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique focused on the fact that violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in healthcare facilities would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He confirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining strict compliance with medical standards and ensuring patient dignity and safety.
Azmat Mahmood, Secretary of the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education, stated that the actions observed in the video constituted a serious violation of medical ethics and professional conduct.
He described the incident as an affront to patient dignity and a breach of established healthcare regulations.
