LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced a three-day public holiday in the first week of February, according to an official notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department (Welfare Wing).
The notification said the provincial government will observe a public holiday across Punjab on February 5, 2026 (Thursday), to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day.
The government also declared February 6, 2026 (Friday), a public holiday across the province on the occasion of Basant. The notification said the holidays will apply to all provincial government offices, as well as autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions operating in Punjab.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the upcoming extended weekend would give people across the province an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate. In a statement posted on social media platform X, she said residents would benefit from consecutive holidays on February 5 for Kashmir Solidarity Day, February 6 for the Basant holiday, followed by the regular weekend.

She expressed hope that the public would use the holidays positively to relax, recharge, and enjoy time with family.
