Pullain Baloch: Border closure pushing Balochistan into economic crisis

ISLAMABAD: Balochistan parliamentary leader Pullain Baloch has warned that the closure of the Iranian border is causing a severe economic crisis in his constituency. He stated that the move has halted employment and crippled families who depend on border trade for their needs, including children’s education and healthcare.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament House on Friday, Baloch alleged the government is “economically killing” the people. He said that despite businesses having official permits, they have been shut down. He argued that border trade and government jobs are the only employment sources in Balochistan, and the absence of industries is worsening the situation.

Baloch accused the government of ignoring Balochistan and said its decisions benefit Pakistani industrialists at the expense of the Baloch people. “We are saving the Pakistani economy, but the Baloch people are making the sacrifices,” he stated.

He demanded the government take immediate responsibility and action, vowing to raise the issue in the assembly and use all democratic methods of protest, asserting, “although our numbers are small, our voice is the loudest.”
