QUETTA: The Balochistan’s government has imposed a three-day ban on public transport across the province from November 12 to 14.
The provincial Home Department announced that all intercity and interprovincial public transport services will remain suspended during the period. The measure, the government said, has been taken to ensure security and maintain public order.
Pakistan Railways has also suspended the operations of Jaffar Express and Bolan Mail for the same duration. Passengers who had booked tickets for these days are advised to contact railway offices for rescheduling or refunds.
“The step is in order to safeguard public lives and maintain peace and stability in the province,” a senior government official told reporters.
Furthermore, the ban applies to buses, vans, and other forms of public transport operating within and outside the province. However, emergency services, private vehicles, and essential transport such as medical or security-related mobility are exempted from the restrictions.
The transport operators and passengers have expressed concern over the sudden announcement, saying it may cause inconvenience, especially to those traveling for business or medical purposes.
The provincial administration focused on that the decision was temporary and taken solely in the interest of public safety. The government assured that normal transport operations would resume on November 15, once the situation is reviewed and deemed secure.
