LAHORE: Police have registered a case against several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists following protests at Liberty Chowk on the night of December 27.
The protesters reportedly blocked the road, raised anti-state slogans, and obstructed police officers performing their duties. The disruption created difficulties for the public trying to pass through the area.
According to police, officers, assisted by staff, tried to disperse the crowd. Thirteen individuals were detained, while 11–12 others fled the scene.
Those arrested include: Zain Khan Niazi, Amanullah, Jahanzeb, Ahmad Raza, Ali Rehman, Hasan Sajjad, Hafeez, Muhammad Ehtisham, Amir, Wajid, Abdul Wakeel, Zakir, and Zameer. The detainees are residents of Lahore, Mansehra, Peshawar, and Abbottabad.
Police said the arrested activists were charged under sections 290 and 291 of the Pakistan Penal Code for obstructing public passage and creating public inconvenience.

The case has been forwarded to the Investigation Wing for further inquiry. The Station House Officer at Gol Market Police Station confirmed the registration of the FIR.
