PTI to seek permission to hold a procession in Quetta again

QUETTA: Quetta has been placed under tight security as the district administration blocked all major routes using trucks and containers ahead of a procession organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan at the Hockey Ground.

Mobile and internet services across the city have also been suspended.

PTI Balochistan’s provincial president, Dawood Shah Kakar, stated that the administration refused to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the rally.

He added that the party would approach the court again to seek permission for holding the gathering.

According to the district administration, the rally was not allowed due to security concerns.

Authorities have made it clear that the gathering will not be permitted under any circumstances, despite PTI’s announcement that it will proceed with the event regardless of restrictions.

Section 144 has been imposed across the province for one month, banning all public assemblies.

Heavy police contingents have been deployed throughout the city to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.

The closure of roads has caused severe difficulties for residents, particularly students who were unable to reach their schools and colleges.

Several students reported missing classes due to road blockages, while traffic jams paralyzed key intersections and highways, leaving citizens stranded for hours.

In addition, the suspension of mobile internet services has disrupted communication and daily activities. Security forces remain on high alert, and citizens have been urged to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.

Meanwhile, PTI leadership has reaffirmed that the rally will take place at the Hockey Ground as planned, emphasizing that it is aimed at upholding the Constitution and restoring democratic rights, despite the administration’s restrictions.
