KARACHI: The former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry has urged both the government and the opposition to take conciliatory steps to reduce the growing political tension in the country.
He said that for national stability, the PTI should take a step back while the government should take a step forward to create an environment conducive to dialogue.
Furthermore, Chaudhry said that ongoing political polarization had overshadowed Pakistan’s recent international achievements.
He further added that efforts were underway to create an atmosphere in which meaningful dialogue could begin between political stakeholders.
Moreover, Chaudhry revealed that in the coming week, meetings were scheduled with senior ministers of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
“We will focus on the need for a constructive political environment in those meetings as well, and I am hopeful that steps will be taken in that direction,” he stated.
In addition, he suggested that granting relief to political prisoners could help ease the political atmosphere.
“The bail hearings of Shah Mahmood Qureshi are being delayed without valid reasons,” he noted, adding that figures such as Ejaz Chaudhry, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Omar Cheema, and Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed deserved fair consideration for bail as part of their legal rights.
However, Chaudhry focused on that ensuring the release of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi remained a top priority.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister KPK Sohail Afridi has adopted a hard line over security issues in order to sabotage a national action plan which is implemented the whole of Pakistan.
“At the moment, I, along with Imran Ismail and Mahmood Molvi, am engaging with different stakeholders.
