PTI activist dies in an accident after the Peshawar procession

PESHAWAR: In Peshawar, a vehicle carrying Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers overturned on Ring Road while they were returning from a party gathering.

According to Member Provincial Assembly Abdul Ghani Afridi, the accident resulted in the death of one worker and left three others injured.

Special Assistant for Information Shafi Jan, while speaking about the incident, said that the vehicle overturned on the way back from the rally, leading to this tragic situation.

He confirmed that one worker lost his life and three sustained injuries in the accident.

It is worth mentioning that incidents during PTI’s processions is something that has long history.

In 2013 , weeks before the general elction, PTI’s Chairman Imran Khan had fallen from a lift while he was about to launch a procession.

The incident caused him seruios injuries and he could not run the election campaign after that.

In another incident in Multan in November 2016, seven people lost their lives after they were stranded in a massive crowd and died of suffocation.

Making an arrangement for the gathering in procession is a tough job, so carrying out precautionary measures keeping in view the safety of people should be topmost priority of the administration.

However, road accident is something that causes deaths across the country everyday.

The accidents are mainly caused on account of poor road infrastructure, shortage of two-way roads and heavily loaded roads.

In a densly populated city as Peshawar, it has become unavoidable to construct new roads to provide the people with the road-saftey.

The load of the heavy traffice could be managed by making flyovers, ringroads and separat pathways for goods-transport.

The government should take all necessary meausres ensuring the safety of the lives of common people.
