120 protestors arrested during crackdown amid strike

QUETTA: Quetta’s Deputy Commissioner has ordered strict action against those causing damage to public and private property under the cover of a strike.

As a result, hundreds of agitators have been arrested and shifted to jail.

On Monday morning, following a call by various political parties, groups of protesters attempted to block interprovincial highways and major city roads, including Sariab Road, Sona Khan, Baleli, Bacha Agha, and Khizai Chowk.

In response, the Quetta district administration, under the directives of Deputy Commissioner Mehrullah Badini, deployed police and security forces to disperse the mobs.

Those leading the violent demonstrations were arrested immediately to maintain law and order.

According to initial reports, leaders and activists from Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, National Party, Awami National Party, BNP-Mengal, and others were detained.

So far, more than 120 protesters and political leaders have been arrested, with orders issued for further arrests under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).

By 2:00 PM, all major roads in Quetta had been reopened. The routes that were earlier blocked by protests have also been cleared by the district administration.

Assistant Commissioners, SPs, and security personnel are closely monitoring their respective areas across the city.

Meanwhile, all government schools and offices remain open as usual, with staff and officials present at their duty stations.
