KHUZDAR: In Khuzdar, a woman who was critically injured in an alleged firing incident yesterday passed away today.
Following her death, her relatives staged a protest at Ghoda Chowk in Khuzdar, completely blocking the Quetta-Karachi National Highway against the murder incident.
According to the family, the woman’s husband was killed on the spot during the same incident, and she had been fighting for her life for several days before succumbing to her injuries.
The protesters alleged that the suspects in the incident are influential and have not been arrested due to alleged government backing, which has caused deep grief and anger among the victims’ families.
Dozens of tribal elders and members of the Bajoi tribe participated in the demonstration.
The protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and warned that the protest would escalate if action was not taken.
Later, Additional SSP Khuzdar arrived at the site and held negotiations with the relatives.
He provided a written assurance that all suspects involved in the firing would be arrested within three days.
Following the written commitment from the authorities, the families ended their protest, and the national highway was reopened to all traffic.
Most of such crime incidents take place on the bases of personal enmity or tribal clashes.
A series of crime incidents is also recorded in the name of honour.
Often some tortured or bullet-riddled bodies of people are found in desolate places of Balochistan.
Such brutality and lawlessness raise questions on the situation of law-and-order and the role of the police and the other concerning departments.
One of the most unfortunate aspects of the murder incidents occurring in Balochistan is, that they are carried out by the tribals and the Jirgas across the province themselves.
Such incidents raise deprivation and uncertainty among the people if the justice is not served through the policing and the judiciary system.
