Colombo: Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has given his take on whether the teams will shake hands during tomorrow’s match.
Speaking at the pre-match captains’ press conference, Suryakumar Yadav said: “We will try to put in a strong performance in the match.” He added that they were holding the press conference as per the usual match routine.
He acknowledged that the Pakistani spinners are bowling well, but stated: “We have a plan against them and we will play according to that plan.”
When asked specifically about the handshake, Suryakumar Yadav replied: “Wait one more day for the handshake.
For now, have your dinner and go to sleep. The time for the handshake will come tomorrow.”
He further described the Pakistan-India match as a high-pressure game, saying: “The team that keeps its nerves under control wins. We have come to play good cricket and that’s exactly what we will do.”
On the same occasion, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha said: “Tomorrow is going to be a big match. We will take the field to give a tough contest.”
He expressed his wish that Abhishek Sharma plays in tomorrow’s match, adding: “We want to play against a strong team.”
Salman Ali Agha described Usman Tariq as “our trump card.” He emphasized that the toss and the spinners will play a very important role in the match, but added: “We cannot ignore the role of the fast bowlers. Our fast bowlers are also very good.”
