ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday praised security forces for killing 15 terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The operations targeted militants in Kolachi, Dera Ismail Khan, and Datta Khel, North Waziristan. The slain included Alam Mehsud, a ringleader of the Indian-backed group Fitna al-Khawarij.
Both leaders commended the strategy and bravery of the security forces. They said the anti-terror operation, “Azm-e-Istehkam,” reflects the nation’s unity in pursuit of lasting peace.
President Zardari said Pakistan would continue eliminating foreign-backed terrorists with national consensus. He warned that no political moves to undermine the fight against extremism would be tolerated.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said the nation stands with the armed forces. “We are determined to eradicate all forms of terrorism from the country,” he said.
Earlier today, the ISPR said in a statement that 15 terrorists linked to India proxy Fitna al Khawarij in two KP operations.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operations followed intelligence reports of militant presence on November 15 and 16. Troops carried out the operations in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan and in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan.
ISPR said security forces engaged the militants in Kulachi and killed 10 fighters, including their ring leader Alam Mehsud.
In a separate intelligence-based operation in Datta Khel, troops killed five more militants. The military described all 15 as members of the India-linked Fitna al Khawarij network (TTP).
