LOWER DIR: The policeman from the Elite Force was critically injured after unidentified terrorists launched a sudden attack on a police checkpost in the Gul area of Maidan, Lower Dir. In addition, security forces launch search operation; area placed on high alert.
The attackers used hand grenades and heavy weapons in the assault on the checkpost. The injured officer was swiftly moved to the District Headquarters Hospital in Timergara, where his condition is reported to be critical. Furthermore, the police personnel responded with effective retaliatory fire, forcing the assailants to flee the scene under pressure.
So far, the law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the vicinity and are actively combing the region in search of the attackers. Moreover, the attack has triggered a wave of concern and fear among local residents.

Meanwhile, a senior police officer, speaking to the media, reaffirmed the resolve of the security forces to eliminate the threat of terrorism and ensure the protection of public lives and property.
