KOHAT: Security forces killed three terrorists in a successful retaliatory operation in Kohat’s Lachi tehsil after a cowardly attack on police late Friday night.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Abbas Majeed Marwat confirmed that terrorists ambushed a police mobile near Darmalak, killing a probationary Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ashfaq and injuring two constables. Police immediately launched a counter-operation in the rugged mountains and forested terrain, eliminating three militants on the spot. Their bodies were recovered, and officials said identification is underway.
RPO Marwat and District Police Officer Dr. Zahidullah rushed to the scene with heavy contingents of police and personally led the operation. He praised the bravery of police personnel, declaring, “Our courageous men confronted the terrorists and brought them to justice. The sacrifices of our martyrs will not go in vain, and our war against terrorism will continue.”
Police confirmed that more terrorists were injured during the clash, and search operations remain underway to track them down.
Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 teams responded promptly to the emergency, providing first aid to the injured police officials and shifting them to Type-D Hospital Lachi. Two injured policemen were later referred to District Headquarters Hospital Kohat for specialized treatment.
