ISLAMABAD : The Pakistani government has categorically rejected as “completely fake and misinformation” an online claim that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is making an emergency trip to Saudi Arabia in connection with Iran‑US talks.
Officials confirmed that no such visit has been scheduled, and the story circulating on certain social media accounts is baseless. “There is no truth to this report. The Prime Minister’s office has not announced any emergency travel to Saudi Arabia on this matter,” a senior government source told local media.
The false claim emerged just days after Pakistan successfully hosted what officials describe as historic and important peace talks between Tehran and Washington. The behind‑the‑scenes diplomatic engagement, facilitated by Islamabad, has been widely seen as a significant step toward de‑escalation and regional stability.
Authorities noted that hostile propaganda is being deliberately spread to undermine these positive developments. “Certain elements are pushing false narratives to create confusion and distract from the progress achieved during the Iran‑US talks hosted by Pakistan,” the source added.
The government has urged citizens and journalists to rely solely on official announcements from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Pakistan’s state news outlets for any verified developments.
“Do not share unverified claims. Any official update on the Prime Minister’s travel or the Iran‑US process will come through proper government channels,” the Press Information Department said in an advisory.
As of this reporting, neither Saudi Arabia nor the United States has issued any statement supporting the purported emergency trip. Pakistan continues to play a constructive role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States, and officials reaffirm that all future communication will be transparent and officially sourced.
