ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack on a polio vaccination team in Nushki district of Balochistan. The attack left a police official Abdul Wahid, who was providing security to the anti-polio vaccination team.
The Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss. The prime minister offered condolences to the officer’s family and prayed for their strength and patience.
“Attacks on polio teams working to protect our children’s future are intolerable,” the prime minister said. He called the violence against health workers unacceptable.
He directed the authorities to take strict action against the “anti-state elements” behind the attack. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue the polio vaccination drive despite security threats.
The attack comes as Pakistan intensifies its efforts to eliminate polio. Health workers in high-risk areas often face serious threats. Authorities have increased security for polio teams across the country.
