ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Announces No Increase in Petroleum Prices Despite Global Oil Surge – Upholding Promise to Ease Burden on Public
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has decided not to raise the prices of petroleum products in Pakistan this time, even as international oil prices continue to climb sharply. He emphasized that this step is being taken to lessen the load on the common man and fulfill the commitment made to the people.
The Prime Minister assured that, as far as possible under these trying circumstances, every effort will be made to deliver relief directly to the citizens.
He pointed out that regional tensions are currently putting intense pressure on the global economy, which is expected to have serious and far-reaching effects on Pakistan’s own economy.
Through prompt policy measures, rigorous austerity steps, and strong financial discipline, the government is striving to manage the situation to the fullest extent humanly possible.
As a servant of the nation, the Prime Minister reiterated his firm resolve that in these difficult times the burden on the poor must be reduced, and that austerity should begin from the elite classes and the government itself. He welcomed the full cooperation of provincial governments alongside the federal government’s austerity drive, describing it as a very positive development.
By the grace of Allah and the dedicated work of Pakistan’s diplomatic and economic teams, an adequate supply of crude oil is available to meet the country’s essential needs.
Federal and provincial authorities are working together to strictly prevent anyone from charging above the officially notified prices, ensuring full compliance.
The Prime Minister concluded by praying that global conditions improve swiftly and that stability returns to international petroleum product prices.
