Abusing Modi is the secret to his good health, says Indian PM

New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi jokingly revealed during a speech in the Rajya Sabha that the secret to his good health is consuming “two kilograms of abuses every day.”

Speaking amid loud opposition protests, slogan-shouting, and a walkout by opposition members, Modi sarcastically remarked that for the past 25 years—since 2002—not a single day has passed without his opponents hurling abuses at him.

“Someone once asked me the secret of my health,” Modi said. “I told them: I eat two kilograms of gaaliyaan (abuses) every day.”

He added that this daily “diet” of criticism has continued uninterrupted for a quarter of a century.

Reacting to opposition chants such as “Modi teri qabr khudegi” (“Modi, your grave will be dug”), the Prime Minister commented:

“This is not merely a slogan—it shows the deepest level of hatred they hold against me.”

Modi also took the opportunity to criticize past Congress governments, stating that his administration has spent the last decade correcting the mistakes made by previous regimes.

He referenced a historical anecdote involving former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who during a visit to Iran quoted her father Jawaharlal Nehru.

When asked how many problems he faced, Nehru reportedly replied “35 crore”—the population of India at that time, implying that the Congress once viewed the people themselves as the problem.

The remarks came during a heated parliamentary session marked by opposition disruptions.
