PM invites allied Senators to address concerns over 27th Constitutional Amendment

ISLAMABAD: There are certain concerns to resolve regarding the approval of the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill in the Senate, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited senators from allied parties for a meeting scheduled for tomorrow evening.

In this regard, several media houses mentioned that the government and allied senators have received formal invitations from the Prime Minister’s Office. 

The prime minister is set to host a dinner in honor of these senators, where key issues related to the proposed amendment are expected to be discussed in detail.

The government confirmed that the dinner meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. The gathering has its core objectives to strengthen coordination among coalition partners and ensure smooth passage of the amendment in the upper house of Parliament.

The matter said the prime minister intends to address any reservations held by coalition senators and to build consensus on the amendment before it is formally tabled for voting. 

The meeting is also expected to review the broader legislative agenda and discuss the government’s priorities for the upcoming parliamentary sessions.

Furthermore, the 27th Constitutional Amendment has been a topic of active discussion within political circles, with various parties expressing the need for further clarification on certain clauses.

The amendment has not been publicly disclosed in full, sources indicate that it involves administrative and structural changes that require broad political support. 

The government is keen to secure unanimous approval from all coalition members to project an image of political cohesion and effective governance.
