ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Approves Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces
The Prime Minister has approved the appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces and has forwarded the summary to the President’s House.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will serve simultaneously as the Chief of Army Staff and the country’s first Chief of Defence Forces.
This appointment is for a tenure of five years.
Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a two-year extension in the service tenure of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, the Chief of Air Staff.
This extension will come into effect after the completion of his current five-year tenure in March 2026.
It is worth mentioning that the Field Marshal Asim Munir has launched Pakistan on a next level front on the war and the strategic grounds.

Field Marshal Asim Munir has also carried out successful operations agianst the militants in KP and Balochistan and the militancy is now on the edge of elimination.

Munir has sent India on the back foot after Pakistan’s befitting respond to Indian hostility in May 2025.
