ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that members of the federal cabinet will donate one month’s salary to support communities affected by recent floods in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
In this sense, the announcement came during a high-level meeting in Islamabad where the prime minister reviewed ongoing relief and rehabilitation operations in flood-hit areas of K-P, Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
So far, reasserting the federal government’s determination to stand with affected citizens, the prime minister described assistance to the flood victims as a collective national responsibility.
In this regard. the financial assistance will be extended to the families who lost their loved ones and to those directly impacted by the floods.
In addition, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and G-B Engineer Amir Muqam has been directed to oversee relief and rehabilitation measures in the affected regions.
Furthermore, PM Shehbaz instructed federal ministers to remain present in flood-hit districts until essential services such as electricity, water supply, road networks, and communication lines are fully restored.
Additionally, the Ministry of National Health Services was ordered to deploy medical teams and set up camps in the affected areas, while the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) will mobilise resources to provide immediate financial relief to the victims.

Moreover, the preliminary assessments suggest damages to public and private property have already exceeded Rs126 million. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) informed the meeting that additional ration, tents, and medical supplies are being arranged, as the monsoon season is expected to continue until the second week of September.
