CHINA: Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal has announced that the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will significantly deepen the partnership between the two nations.
Speaking during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, the Minister for Planning highlighted key areas for future collaboration, including renewable energy, ports, and the livestock sector.
During his visit, Minister Iqbal inspected a state-of-the-art solar energy plant in Tianjin, describing it as a top-tier, modern project. He stated that Pakistan aims to fully benefit from such advanced Chinese technology in the energy field and invited Chinese companies to invest in Pakistan’s solar and green energy sectors.
The Minister also emphasized cooperation in agriculture, revealing that Pakistan is creating a platform to leverage Chinese expertise in biotechnology. This visit included a tour of a major Chinese vaccine company, which has proposed building an animal vaccine plant in Pakistan.
Iqbal explained that this focus on livestock is crucial, as it is a major part of Pakistan’s agricultural economy. The goal is to increase meat exports by protecting animals from diseases through modern vaccines and research centers, securing the country’s future development.
