ISLAMABAD : Inflation has accelerated sharply due to the increase in prices of petroleum products, with transport costs jumping over 12 percent in just one month, according to an official document.
The document reveals that all types of transport in the country became expensive by 12.14 percent in a single month. Mechanical services for vehicles also rose by 1.29 percent monthly and 8.92 percent annually.
Postal services became more expensive by 2.15 percent in one month due to rising petroleum prices, pushing the annual increase in postal facility costs to 14.98 percent.
Educational expenses increased by another 1.29 percent in March, with annual education costs rising 8.85 percent. Accommodation and food facilities became 2.92 percent more expensive during the month, while washing soap and detergent prices rose by an additional 0.57 percent.
In March, wedding hall owners increased their rates by 0.61 percent, and domestic workers raised their charges by 0.53 percent during the month.
All types of health facilities also became more expensive. Medicine prices recorded a monthly increase of 0.17 percent and an annual rise of 6.49 percent. Doctors increased clinic fees by 0.93 percent in one month, while dental services rose by 0.81 percent in March. Medical tests became 0.17 percent more expensive, and hospital costs increased by 0.18 percent monthly and 5.07 percent annually.
According to the document, household goods prices rose by 0.84 percent in March, with plastic goods becoming 0.92 percent more expensive during the month. Stationery, car parts, furniture, carpets, and restaurants also saw price increases.
