ISLAMABAD : In a move that has further strained the already inflation-hit public, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has once again increased the prices of petroleum products, effective from midnight.
According to an official notification issued by OGRA, the price of petrol per liter has been increased by Rs 6.39, bringing the new price to Rs 327.12 per liter. Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel has witnessed a steeper jump of Rs 7.83 per liter, after which diesel will now be sold at Rs 375.4 per liter.
This marks the second price revision in less than 24 hours. Just a day earlier, on Tuesday, OGRA had increased the price of petrol by Rs 4.93 per liter and high-speed diesel by Rs 7.15 per liter under the daily price determination system. Following that increase, petrol was priced at Rs 320.73 per liter, while diesel stood at Rs 367.21 per liter.
The back-to-back hikes have imposed a significant additional financial burden on the masses, who are already grappling with soaring inflation and the high cost of living. The latest adjustments are expected to have a cascading effect on the prices of essential commodities, transport fares, and overall economic activity in the country.
