PESHAWAR: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully eliminated an Afghan suicide bomber in the Shamshato area of Peshawar, on Sunday.
According to details, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), carried out operation in provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the death of the Afghan suicide bomber along with an accomplice.
The deceased suicide bomber has been identified as Munir Ahmad, a wanted terrorist who had been on the radar of security forces since November 2024. Munir Ahmad reportedly entered Pakistan from Afghanistan’s Khost province and had links to Nangarhar province, where he was also a wanted criminal.
CTD carried out operation on intelligence and thwarted a planned terror attack targeting a sensitive installation. During the encounter, both the suicide bomber and his handler were killed. CTD also recovered explosive materials, an SMG rifle, multiple rounds of ammunition, and a pistol from the scene.

Law enforcement agencies are continuing efforts to identify the handler and trace the broader network behind the planned attack. Officials praised the successful operation as a crucial step in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the region.
