PESHAWAR: Peshawar police killed four members of a dangerous inter-district robbery gang during an early morning operation on Saturday.
The suspects had been disguising themselves in police and Frontier Corps (FC) uniforms to carry out robberies across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to police, the gang recently looted millions of rupees and gold ornaments from a doctor’s house before escaping. Acting on intelligence, Chamkani police launched an operation in Mera Kachori Mehr Gul Kalay at dawn.
As police surrounded the hideout, the robbers opened fire. The police retaliated, killing all four suspects within minutes.
Initial investigations revealed that the gang had been active since 2003 and was involved in multiple robberies in Faqirabad, Chamkani, Pahari Pura, and Nowshera. The suspects routinely used police uniforms to deceive victims and evade arrest.
Police officials said the operation marks a major success against organized crime in the province.
