From Gwadar to Zhob, people celebrate Independence Day

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti has said that a handful of people are trying to break Pakistan through the power of the gun.

Speaking at an Independence Day ceremony, Bugti said the elders of the nation sacrificed immensely for Pakistan. He praised the armed forces for defeating India in the “Battle of Truth,” saying the nation salutes their courage. “The entire nation stood united in the war against India,” he added.

He said the President, Prime Minister, and Field Marshal also displayed leadership during the battle and deserve tribute. From Gwadar to Zhob, people are celebrating Independence Day, he said, congratulating the people of Balochistan for marking the occasion across the province.

Bugti warned that a few gunmen are trying to divide Pakistan. He said Balochistan is home to people who cherish traditions, yet those traditions are being brutally crushed. “Women, innocent children, and travelers are being mercilessly martyred. We must all stand against these terrorists,” he stressed.

He vowed to confront the militants directly. “Terrorists are violating our traditions. The people of Balochistan are willing to sacrifice their lives for their guests, yet these militants drag passengers off buses and kill them. This wave of terrorism, unrest, and insecurity will soon end. We have seen such incidents before,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the Pakistan Army, police, and security forces continue to lay down their lives for the country. “The sun of peace will surely rise over this region in all its glory,” he concluded.
