PDMA holds meeting to review Monsoon preparedness

QUETTA:  meeting was convened on Friday at PDMA Balochistan, chaired by the Relief Commissioner Director General PDMA, Jahanzeb Khan Ghorezai to assess and strengthen district level preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Communication & Works (C&W) Mr. Lal Jan Jaffar, Secretary Irrigation Mr. Saleh Muhammad Nasir, and Deputy Commissioners (DCs) from various districts who joined via video link.

The primary agenda of the meeting was to hear firsthand the challenges faced by districts in terms of monsoon preparedness, particularly regarding budgetary constraints, availability of heavy machinery, and emergency equipment.

In response to the concerns raised, the DG PDMA assured immediate release of the Disaster Management funds and pledged the deployment of PDMA owned heavy machinery to the districts as needed.

The Secretaries of C&W and Irrigation departments also pledged their full support, directing their respective XENs to coordinate closely with the district administrations and ensure timely provision of resources.

During the session, the DG PDMA conveyed the stern message of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, and Chief Secretary Balochistan, Mr. Shakeel Qadir Khan, emphasizing that all departments and officials will be held accountable for any mishandled situation or negligence during the monsoon operations.

“The Government of Balochistan is fully committed to safeguarding human lives and protecting citizens’ hard-earned assets.
