LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board has revoked no-objection certificates (NOCs) granted to former cricketers Sarfaraz Ahmed and Wahab Riaz, barring them from holding dual roles with franchise teams to avoid conflicts of interest.
The decision ends their association with Quetta Gladiators. Both are full-time PCB officials. Sarfaraz serves on the national men’s selection committee, while Wahab mentors the Pakistan women’s team.
They had earlier been allowed to take on additional roles with the franchise. Sarfaraz worked as team director, and Wahab served as bowling coach. The PCB withdrew these permissions after reviewing their responsibilities.
The board said the move reinforces its policy that full-time officials cannot work with domestic franchises. It aims to ensure impartiality and full commitment to national duties.
Sarfaraz joined the selection committee on March 5 alongside Misbah-ul-Haq following a restructuring triggered by the resignation of Aleem Dar. Despite his role, Misbah continues to serve as batting coach for Peshawar Zalmi during Pakistan Super League season 11.
The current selection panel also includes Aqib Javed and Asad Shafiq.
Sarfaraz recently announced his retirement from international cricket, ending a career highlighted by Pakistan’s victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
