LAHORE: Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman has been suspended for two matches for breaching the code of conduct during the ongoing Pakistan Super League, officials said on Tuesday.
Match referee Roshan Mahanama imposed the ban after a disciplinary hearing in Lahore. He reviewed evidence and heard the player’s explanation before delivering the verdict.
Officials said the charge falls under Article 2.14 of the PSL code of conduct. The proceedings followed clause 4.1.3 of the regulations.
The case relates to an alleged ball-tampering incident during a recent match. Representatives of Lahore Qalandars attended the hearing, including captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and team director Sameen Rana.
The suspension will sideline Fakhar for the next two matches. The ban comes at a crucial stage of the tournament and deals a setback to his team.
Officials did not release further details of the incident.
