Passenger buses in Balochistan to have armed guards by July 20

QUETTA: The provincial government of Balochistan has ordered strict security measures for passenger buses and coaches across province following in response to the recent surge in terrorist attacks targeting public transport.

The authorities said that the decision was taken after a tragic incident in Kalat where members of the renowned Qawwali group, Majid Ali Sabri Group, along with other musicians, were killed in a terrorist attack on a passenger bus.

According the report of local media outlet Express News, Deputy Commissioners across the province have instructed all transport operators to deploy two armed security guards on each passenger vehicles.

The Balochistan government has made it mandatory for transport owners to install GPS trackers, alarm systems, and CCTV cameras in their vehicles. These security upgrades must be completed by July 20, 2025.

Authorities say these steps are aimed at protecting innocent lives and ensuring that public transport does not become an easy target for militants.
