QUETTA: This incident is yet another grim reminder of the BLA’s ruthless tactics and disregard for human life, particularly those of innocent civilians who refuse to bow to their demands. The banned terrorist organization Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) launched an attack in the Hanna Urak area of Quetta, killing two young Pashtun men for allegedly refusing to pay extortion money related to coal mining. The brutal assault has sparked outrage among tribal communities across Balochistan.
The attack has ignited a wave of anger and grief among the tribal communities in Balochistan, who have long borne the brunt of such violence.
In this regard, as per the witnesses and local sources, the two men were targeted after resisting pressure to provide extortion payments demanded by the BLA, which has a known history of financing its terror operations through illegal means, including forced taxation of local businesses and mining operations.
The BLA, a proscribed terrorist organization under Pakistani and international anti-terror laws, has been involved in numerous terrorist activities across Balochistan, including targeted killings of civilians and government officials, destruction of public infrastructure, kidnapping of local and foreign personnel, and ongoing attempts to undermine the state’s writ in the region.
