Panjgur Levies personnel reject decision to merge with police

PANJGUR: Panjgur Levies Force rejected the government’s decision to merge the force with Balochistan police.

According to details, a jirga was held at the district headquarters and at least 555 soldiers of the District Levies Force participated in the event. The jirga was held under the supervision of Risaldar Major Sabir Ali Gachki, Dafdar Saeed Ahmed, Deputy Risaldar Muhammad Tayyab, Deputy Risaldar Abdul Ghaffar, Deputy Risaldar Muhammad Ismail, Deputy Risaldar Imam Bakhsh.

While talking to media after the jirga, Dafdar Saeed Ahmed said that the decision that the officers have issued regarding the Levies Force in haste and haste is not acceptable to our soldiers at any cost and adding that our case against the government decision is under hearing in court and a stay order has also been issued by the honorable court against the merger with the police.

He said that 28,000 Balochistan people are working in the Levies Force, whom the people of the entire province trust and the Levies Force has always upheld the high traditions of Balochistan and has performed its duties with good faith and honesty.

He said that the previous provincial government and the assembly of Balochistan unanimously passed a resolution against it and restored the Levies Force to its high performance and services. Now, an attempt is being made to take the Levies Force to the same level again and the decision of the honorable court is not being taken into account, which is regrettable and a blatant violation of the court’s decision.

Regarding the Levies force services, he said that the services and sacrifices that the Levies Force has rendered to restore law and order in the difficult areas of the province with limited resources are not hidden from anyone. The government should provide resources to boost the morale of the Levies Force, or it should merge a force that is popular among the people with another institution.
