ISLAMABAD: Pakistan participated in the 19th Mid-Term Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), held in Kampala, Uganda, from October 15 to 16, 2025.
The meeting, convened under the theme “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence,” brought together representatives from Non Aligned Movement (NAM) member states to discuss pressing global challenges and confirm solidarity among developing nations.
Furthermore, the Pakistani delegation was led by Special Secretary (UN) Nabeel Munir, who represented the country at both the Ministerial Plenary and the preceding senior government representatives meeting held from October 13 to 14.
In addition, the Special Secretary Munir mentioned NAM’s enduring role in advancing peace, equality, and sustainable development in a rapidly changing global landscape.
He underlined the importance of the Movement’s collective voice in addressing unresolved international disputes and emerging threats, including the situations in Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, as well as the escalating climate crisis.
Moreover, Pakistan’s commitment to NAM’s founding principles, he reasserted the country’s support for the right to self-determination of peoples under foreign occupation.
He also drew attention to the growing trend of Islamophobia and the use of aggressive rhetoric in South Asia, stressing the need for dialogue, tolerance, and mutual respect among nations.
The Special Secretary held bilateral discussions with Uganda’s Foreign Minister, Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, and other senior officials from NAM member states.
The talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and increasing engagement within the NAM framework.
Meanwhile, at the NAM Ministerial Committee on Palestine, Munir welcomed the Sharm El-Sheikh ceasefire agreement in Gaza and commended the mediation efforts led by Qatar, Egypt, Türkiye, and the United States.
He expressed optimism that the agreement would pave the way for complete Israeli withdrawal, sustained humanitarian assistance, and long-term reconstruction efforts.

Pakistan reasserted its constant support for the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
