Pakistan’s Diplomatic Role Wins Global Praise After Ceasefire: Report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s global image has shown marked improvement following the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, according to an international survey.

A significant shift in global public opinion has been observed after the development, the report said.

According to the findings, negative perception of Pakistan, which stood at around 90 percent in late March, dropped sharply. By April 8, more than 70 percent of global sentiment had turned positive following the announcement of a 14-day ceasefire by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The data was released in a social listening report by Ipsos, which analysed global reactions to Pakistan’s diplomatic role.

The report noted that global discussion began on March 23 after high-level contacts between Pakistan, the United States and Iran. Initial reactions, however, were largely negative.

Criticism was linked to Pakistan’s internal political and economic challenges, regional tensions, and questions over neutrality.

Scepticism was also expressed by sections in the United States, India, and within Pakistan regarding the government’s strategy.

A sharp shift was recorded on April 8 after the ceasefire announcement. The global narrative turned positive.
