Islamabad / Quetta: Pakistan’s Armed Forces have initiated a major punitive military operation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Balochistan province, targeting posts of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) that are alleged to serve as sanctuaries and launch points for the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), referred to by Pakistani officials as “Fitna ul Hindustan” (a term used for BLA and associated groups).
The operation, described as “Debilitating Punishment,” involves coordinated and disproportionate strikes aimed at delivering a decisive blow to terrorism facilitators.
Official military sources state that over 55 locations linked to TTA and BLA activities are being engaged using a wide array of weapon systems, including:
- Direct and indirect fire weapons
- Heavy weaponry such as Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs), rocket launchers, and long-range mortars
- Light and heavy artillery
- Main Battle Tanks (MBTs)
- Swarm drones for synchronized effects, in coordination with ground troops attacking select high-value sites
Sector-wise engagements are focused on identified TTA posts facilitating BLA operations in the following areas:
- Warsala Sub-Sector (Punishment of TTA Posts 5-9)
- Zhob Sector (including Sambaza, Ghudwana, and Bilal post)
- Qila Saifullah, Pishin Sector (Kalegai, Bayanzai & Rahim Thanas), Loe Band Sector (Kochi, Rahim, Ala Jirga, Tor Kach & Tarwakai Thanas), Badini Sector (Thand, Jumma Khan & Zanjeer Thanas), and OGG Sector (Khar, Spingai, Surzangal & Younas Thanas)
- Chiltan Ranges, Shishka Sector, Khara Sector (Thana 1, 2 & 3), and Riaz Sector (Pasta & Saratashan Thana)
- Naushki, Hameed Qilla, Sanaullah Agha, Shina Khel, Ani, Jani, Tirkashi, Zulmi, Sawali, Ghazali Qilla, and Otaq sectors
This escalation comes amid ongoing cross-border tensions, following earlier operations like “Ghazab Lil Haq” in late February 2026 and responses to militant activities in Balochistan (including BLA attacks in January-February 2026).
Pakistani authorities emphasize that the measures are calculated, intelligence-driven, and necessary to neutralize threats, restore deterrence, and protect national sovereignty.
The operations are expected to continue until objectives are fully met.
