ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for supporting Pakistan’s peace efforts.
He said Pakistan is committed to working with its friends and partners, including the United Kingdom, to promote lasting peace in the region and globally.

The UK Prime Minister had described the two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran as a positive development. He said in his statement that the next goal should be a permanent end to the conflict.
Starmer added that the UK will work with its international partners to ensure freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
“I appreciate Prime Minister@Keir_Starmer for his endorsement of Pakistan’s sincere efforts for peace,” tweeted PM Shehbaz Sharif while appreciating his UK counterpart.

Yesterday, in a joint statement, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, the European Commission, the European Council, Japan, and the UK welcomed the two-week ceasefire.
The statement praised Pakistan and other partners for their diplomatic efforts.

It said negotiations are now essential to achieve a swift and lasting end to the war. The ceasefire is critical to protecting Iranian civilians, restoring regional security, and reducing global energy risks.

All parties, including Lebanon, were urged to implement the ceasefire fully. International partners pledged continued cooperation to ensure lasting peace in the region.
