Pakistan weather update: PMD forecasts rain in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast isolated rain in parts of Islamabad on Saturday, with showers likely in Murree, Galiyat, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat and Jhelum. Thunderstorms may strike Kohistan, Swat, Battagram, Dir and Abbottabad.

The Met Office said southern Balochistan would remain partly cloudy, while most districts of Sindh would face hot and dry conditions. Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to stay warm and dry, though some areas of Azad Kashmir may receive rain and thunder.

In Lahore, residents reported clear skies and sunshine. The city recorded a temperature of 29°C in the morning, with a maximum of 34°C forecast for later in the day. Humidity stood at 80 percent with light winds blowing at 2 km/h.

Flood Situation
The Flood Forecasting Division warned of high flood levels in the Chenab and Indus rivers, with increased discharge in the Sutlej.

At Panjnad headworks on the Chenab, authorities recorded an exceptionally high flood as discharge reached 590,382 cusecs. The Indus at Guddu Barrage also faced a high flood with outflow at 514,051 cusecs, while Sukkur Barrage reported a medium flood at 422,400 cusecs.

On the Sutlej, low flood levels were reported at Ganda Singh Wala and Sulemanki headworks, where water discharge stood at 78,492 cusecs and 79,351 cusecs respectively.
