COLOMBO: After their defeat to India in the ICC T20 World Cup, Pakistan must win their final Group A match to have any chance of reaching the Super 8 stage.
India has already secured qualification for the Super 8 from Group A after beating Pakistan by 61 runs.
This major defeat has badly affected Pakistan’s net run rate, which has dropped sharply from +0.932 to –0.403.
As a result, Pakistan has now slipped below the United States on the points table.
The USA has collected 4 points from four matches with two wins and currently holds a net run rate of +0.788.
Pakistan will face Namibia in their last Group A match on 18 February.
Winning this game is absolutely essential for them to advance to the Super 8 stage.
It is worth noting that if Namibia manages to cause an upset and defeat Pakistan, the team will be eliminated from the Super 8 race.
