Pakistan, Tajikistan conclude joint Counter-Terrorism Exercise ‘Dosti-II’

TAJIKISTAN: Pakistan and Tajikistan successfully conducted the Joint Counter-Terrorism Exercise Dosti-II at the Fakhrobod Base, Tajikistan, reasserting their commitment to empowering security cooperation and increasing regional stability.

In this regard, the exercise, which was held from 4 to 9 August 2025, brought together two combat teams from the Light Commando Battalion of the Pakistan Army and four combat teams from the Special Forces of Tajikistan, as mentioned by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). 

The event was aimed at refining operational drills, improving coordination, and sharing best practices in counter-terrorism operations through intensive joint training.

So far, the closing ceremony on 9 August was graced by Defence Attaché (Pakistan) in Tajikistan, Col Muhammad Muazzam Zafar, as the Chief Guest from the Pakistani side. 

In this sense, senior military officials also attended the event. During the exercise, troops from both countries demonstrated high standards of professional excellence, discipline, and operational readiness. 

The training sessions included simulated counter-terrorism scenarios, tactical maneuvers, and the exchange of specialized techniques for combating evolving security threats. 

Col Zafar mentioned the historic and friendly military-to-military ties between Pakistan and Tajikistan, focusing on the importance of continued cooperation in addressing shared security challenges. 

He lauded the spirit of camaraderie and mutual learning displayed during Dosti-II, stating that such initiatives not only enhance tactical capabilities but also strengthen the foundation of regional peace.

The Dosti-II exercise is part of an ongoing series of joint military engagements aimed at deepening defence cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan. Building upon the success of earlier exercises, this edition served as a platform for increasing the mutual understanding, operational synergy, and strategic partnership in counter-terrorism efforts.
