ISLAMABAD — Precision strikes were carried out by Pakistan against militant infrastructure inside Afghanistan based on verified intelligence, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said. The right to take all necessary measures in self-defence was reserved.
It was stated that 37 locations in Kabul, Nangarhar, Paktika and other areas were targeted with extreme caution. Operations were directed solely against militant elements, including the Taliban regime, and civilian populations were not targeted.
Concrete evidence of terrorism originating from Afghan territory was said to be in Pakistan’s possession. Attacks on 53 locations across 15 sectors along the border were described as unacceptable. The operation, codenamed “Ghazab lil Haq,” was conducted against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and other militant groups. Hideouts and camps were reported destroyed.
Peaceful neighbourly relations with Afghanistan were said to be sought. A total of 4,500 scholarships were offered for Afghan students. Kabul was asked to ensure its territory was not used for attacks against Pakistan. Three visits to Afghanistan were said to have been made last year, during which economic cooperation and trade were discussed.
Diplomatic efforts through talks in Qatar and Istanbul were said to have failed to produce results. Engagement with friendly countries was said to be continuing to brief them on the situation and to support de-escalation.
On wider regional developments, support for peace efforts in Gaza was reiterated. Humanitarian assistance for its population was called for. Dialogue and diplomacy were described as the primary means of resolving disputes. Respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity under international law was emphasized.

Strong relations with China, the United States and other partner countries were noted. The regional environment was described as highly sensitive. Diplomatic efforts were said to be focused on reducing tensions.
