Babar Dropped as Pakistan Name Squad for Bangladesh ODI Series

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday announced a 15-member squad for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, leaving out star batter Babar Azam and all-rounder Saim Ayub.

All three matches will take place at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka from March 11 to 15.

Left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to lead the ODI side. The squad features six uncapped players as Pakistan looks to test fresh talent.

The uncapped players include Abdul Samad, Maaz Sadaqat, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Saad Masood, Sahibzada Farhan and Shamyl Hussain. Abdul Samad, Maaz Sadaqat, Saad Masood and Shamyl Hussain recently represented Pakistan Shaheens against England Lions in Abu Dhabi.

Pakistan last played an ODI series in November, when it hosted Sri Lanka national cricket team and secured a 3-0 clean sweep.

The upcoming series will mark Afridi’s second ODI assignment as captain. He previously led Pakistan to a 2-1 home series win over South Africa.
