Pakistan secure semi-final spot in Hong Kong Super Sixes

HONG KONG: Pakistan stormed into the semi-finals of the Hong Kong Super Sixes after an impressive five-wicket victory over South Africa on Saturday.

The Green Shirts produced a dominant all-round performance to secure their place in the final four of the tournament.

Batting first, South Africa posted 102 for 3 in six overs. Wian Shalwick top-scored with 40 runs, while Ethan Jones added 29. Pakistan’s Mohammad Shehzad bowled brilliantly, claiming three key wickets to restrict the opposition.

Chasing 103, Pakistan made light work of the target, reaching it in just 3.5 overs. Opener Abdul Samad played a blistering knock, smashing 50 runs off just 10 balls, including eight massive sixes. Khawaja Nafeh also impressed with a fluent 36 before being dismissed.

With this emphatic win, Pakistan sealed their place in the semi-finals of the Hong Kong Super Sixes 2025.

Earlier, Pakistan’s clash against India in the tournament had been washed out due to rain, with India declared winners by two runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method.

India, batting first, scored 86 for 4 in six overs. Mohammad Shehzad once again shone for Pakistan, picking up two wickets. In reply, Pakistan reached 41 for 1 in three overs before rain interrupted play. However, as the rain persisted, the result was decided under DLS, handing India a narrow victory.

Earlier today, India suffered a double upset in the Hong Kong Super Sixes 2025, losing to Kuwait and the UAE in back-to-back matches on Saturday.

A star-studded Indian lineup went down to Kuwait by 27 runs in a thrilling Pool C fixture after a poor bowling display allowed Kuwait to post 106 for 5 in six overs.

Batting first, Kuwait stumbled early at 12 for 2 after Stuart Binny removed Adnan Idrees and Abhimanyu Mithun dismissed Meet Bhavsar. However, Bilal Tahir and captain Yasin Patel turned the game on its head. Tahir smashed 25 off nine balls, while Patel produced one of the tournament’s most explosive innings, hammering 58 off just 14 deliveries, including two fours and eight sixes at a strike rate of over 400.
