PAF Chief, Romanian defence leaders agree to boost military ties

BUCHAREST: Pakistan Romania defence cooperation received a major boost as Pakistan Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu held a joint meeting with Romanian State Secretary of Defence Eduard Bachide and Chief of Defence General Gheorgiță Vlad on Thursday.

He is on his official visit to Romania aimed at expanding military cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen defence ties, enhance interoperability, and explore new avenues of collaboration. Air Chief Marshal Sidhu said Pakistan values its close diplomatic and defence relations with Romania, which are built on shared objectives for regional peace and security. He reaffirmed the Pakistan Air Force’s commitment to deepening the partnership through professional and operational cooperation.

Romanian defence officials praised the Pakistan Air Force’s combat record and operational excellence. The Romanian Chief of Defence expressed interest in expanding cooperation through joint exercises, training exchanges, and professional development programs to promote long-term strategic collaboration.

The visit marks a significant step toward reinforcing defence relations between Pakistan and Romania and reflects the mutual resolve to work together in addressing emerging security challenges through sustained engagement and partnership.
Yesterday, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu met Romanian Air Force Chief Lieutenant General Leonard-Gabriel Baraboi in Bucharest on Tuesday to discuss strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and expanding joint initiatives.
