Pakistan Restores Train Services from Quetta

QUETTA: Pakistan Railways on Friday restored all passenger train services from Quetta to major cities suspended a day earlier due to what officials described as unavoidable reasons.

Officials said the Jaffar Express, Bolan Mail and Chaman Passenger had been suspended for one day due to security concerns.

The Chaman Passenger departed Quetta for Chaman on schedule, officials said.

The Jaffar Express also left Quetta for Peshawar at its scheduled time, according to railway authorities.

Railway officials said the Bolan Mail will depart from Quetta on Dec. 28.

Authorities said they had suspended train operations for one day as a precaution over security threats.

Rail services are now operating normally, officials added.

Yesterday, due to suspension, the Jaffar Express from Quetta to Peshawar did not depart today. Similarly, the Bolan Mail from Quetta to Karachi had remained off schedule.

Services to the border town of Chaman, including the Chaman Passenger, had also canceled.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), an Indian RAW-backed proxy group also known as Fitna al-Hindustan, has long been involved in attacks on trains.
