Pakistan ready to counter any aggression: DG ISPR

ABBOTTABAD: Pakistan’s military spokesman Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry held an interactive session with university teachers and students in Abbottabad to discuss national security, Pakistan-Afghan tensions, and ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

A large number of professors and students from local universities attended the session. The DG ISPR said Pakistan has taken “effective steps” against terrorism and the Indian proxy Fitna al Khawarij.

He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army remains fully committed to defending the homeland, warning that any external aggression would meet a “strong and decisive response.”

Participants praised the armed forces and paid rich tribute to the martyrs and veterans for their sacrifices.

Speaking at the event, Hazara University Vice Chancellor Dr. Ikramullah Khan said the Pakistan Army symbolizes true patriotism. “The Army always stands at the frontlines, and we stand shoulder to shoulder with it,” he added.

Teachers attending the session expressed concern over increased efforts by hostile elements to mislead the youth. They stressed the need to provide students with accurate and verified information to counter disinformation.

Students said they were inspired by the session and gained clarity about the country’s security situation. “Today we learned the truth about false rumors spread on social media against our armed forces,” one student said.

Another added, “The DG ISPR’s detailed responses cleared our doubts about national and provincial issues and the role of Pakistan’s military.”

The session concluded with a renewed sense of unity and appreciation for the Pakistan Army’s role in safeguarding the country and guiding the younger generation.

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar earlier this month in Peshawar, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces killed 917 militants, including 126 Afghan nationals, in more than 10,000 counterterrorism operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year, as part of an intensified campaign to eliminate terrorist networks in the country’s northwest.
