Pakistan calls India on low-water flow in Chenab River

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has officially established a contact with India on the low water flow in the Chenab Water.

The officials of the Indus Water Commission have officially made a contact with the Indian officials and have raised the issue of the unstable flow of water in the Chenab Water.

According to the ministry of Water Resources, the Irrigation Department is constantly monitoring the flow of water.

There has been a massive deficiency recorded in the flow of water from 10th to 16th December in the Marala Head of Chenab River which was on its lowest level in the past 10 years.

The water flow decreased to 870 Cusec during the said dates. However, a stability has been observed on the 17th December.

Pakistan has said that in the light of the Indus Water Treaty, It is prohibited to keep the Dead Storage Empty.

It is worth mentioning that India one-sidedly suspended the Indus Water Treaty after the Pahalgham Incident earlier this year.

The experts opine that India aims to bring a massive disaster to the crops of Pakistan by controlling the water.

In a televised interview, an Indian official had categorically said that if we control water in a way that when water is needed for crops in the dry weather, we may stop it from flowing across the border.

Similarly, when there is rainy water, we may release water in a massive quantity so it may cause a nasty damage to the crops on the other side.

However, Pakistan has made a clear stance that any such move will be taken as the war act.

On the other hand, the United Nations have called ‘Operation Sindoor’ an intense violation of the International law.

The united nations have said that launching an attack on Pakistani territory and causing deaths to the innocent civilians goes down as a provocative use of power.

The United Nations have asked India to refrain from carrying out the water hostility as well.
