Karachi: The Pakistan Navy successfully rescued 18 crew members from the commercial vessel MV Gold Autumn during a humanitarian operation in the North Arabian Sea.
The vessel, which was approximately 200 nautical miles (around 370 km) south of the Pakistani coast, had sent out a distress signal. Upon receiving the emergency alert, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) immediately activated its Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre and dispatched the Pakistan Navy ship PNS Hunain for the rescue mission.
PNS Hunain swiftly reached the location and carried out a professional rescue operation.
The naval team assisted in extinguishing the fire on board, provided medical aid to the affected crew, and safely evacuated all 18 personnel.
The rescued individuals, who are nationals of China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia, were brought to Karachi for further medical treatment and arrangements for their repatriation.
This timely humanitarian operation highlights the Pakistan Navy’s constant readiness and commitment to ensuring safety in Pakistan’s vast maritime domain.
