Pakistan Navy hands over command of CTF-151 to Brazilian Navy

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy (PN) has formally handed over the command of Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151) to the Brazilian Navy during a ceremony held at the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) Headquarters in Bahrain.

In this sense, the Directorate General Public Relations (Pakistan Navy), Commodore Sohail Ahmad Azmie of Pakistan Navy waived command to Rear Admiral Marcelo Lancellotti of the Brazilian Navy. 

The ceremony was presided over by Vice Admiral George Wikoff, Commander CMF, and attended by senior naval officers, diplomats, and dignitaries from partner nations.

In this regard, Pakistan Navy assumed the command of CTF-151 in January 2025 and successfully led the mission aimed at counter-piracy and maritime security in the region. So far, PN developed closer coordination with regional and international navies, particularly the European Union Naval Forces’ Operation Atalanta.

Moreover, the highlight of Pakistan Navy’s command was the professional conduct of Focused Operation Sea Spirit, in which CTF-151 coordinated contributions from 13 CMF partner nations. The operation involved naval assets from six countries and active support from eight Regional Coordination Centres, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the multinational maritime force.

The ceremony was attended by ambassadors from Pakistan, Japan, and Brazil, as well as senior representatives from the Republic of Korea, highlighting the broad international participation in CMF’s mission.
